If you’re the kind of person who loves planning ahead or staying super organised, it’s no surprise you’re wondering when the UAE’s official public holidays for 2027 will fall.
According to UAE public holiday law, we’re entitled to a minimum of 12 official days off annually in Dubai and the other emirates, which can factor into our plans for next year.
The United Arab Emirates celebrates a mix of holidays, with some relying on the Islamic Hijri calendar to determine the exact date and others tied to the Gregorian calendar.
The Islamic Hijri calendar relies on cycles of the moon, unlike the Gregorian calendar, which is based on the sun.

Exact dates for holidays such as Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha, which use the Islamic calendar to establish their start date, are not officially confirmed until a matter of days before they’re due to begin.
However, predictions of when these occasions are likely to begin can be made far in advance. To give you an idea of when holidays are likely to fall, we’ve mapped out the predicted dates below.
UAE public holiday dates 2027: A guide
The likely UAE public holiday dates can be found below, as per the UAE public holiday law established in April 2024 and introduced in January 2025.
In 2027, the longest public holiday of the year looks likely to be the Eid Al Fitr break, which is slated to get underway on Wednesday March 10 and end on Friday March 12. This would provide a bumper five-day-long weekend when combined with Saturday and Sunday.
Eid Al Adha looks set to provide a four-day-long weekend, starting on Saturday May 15, Arafat Day, and continuing until Tuesday May 18.
The UAE public holiday law outlines that some celebrations tied to moon sightings can be moved to the beginning or end of the corresponding week. This means that Islamic New Year and the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (PBUH) are likely to be moved to the following day to provide three-day-long weekends.
The final public holiday of 2027 looks like it will be a four-day-long weekend to mark the annual National Day celebrations in the UAE.
Predicted public holiday dates UAE 2027
- New Year’s Day: Friday January 1
- Eid Al Fitr: Wednesday March 10 – Friday March 12 (if Ramadan is a 30-day month)
- Arafat Day: Saturday May 15
- Eid Al Adha: Sunday May 16 – Tuesday May 18
- Islamic New Year: Monday June 7 (official day to fall on Sunday June 6, holiday moved to the start of the week)
- The Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (PBUH): Monday August 16 (official day to fall on Sunday August 15, holiday moved to the start of the week)
- National Day/Eid Al Etihad: Thursday December 2 and Friday December 3
It should also be noted that the UAE public holiday law does allow local governments to add extra public holidays not outlined above if they choose to do so.
A public holiday may not be carried forward if it falls on the same date as another public holiday or a weekend. This won’t be a problem in 2027 as none of the Islamic holidays will overlap with either of the holidays tied to the Gregorian calendar.
